Blog Merged

Some of you may be wondering why I changed my seed company blog name to "The Golden Dusk". Some of you may be wondering why I merged Quixlan Heirloom Seeds' blog, "Adventures in Good Tea", and "Chicken Little Photography".

Well, the reason why is because I could not keep up with regularly updating three blogs as well as three Facebook pages. Also, I wanted to have a blog to post my creative writing as well as one to just post about life. So, my solution was to merge them all.

You can find my new blog here: The Golden Dusk

Lake George

There is nothing quite like a mountain seen from the distance. It is misty green or gray, and mysterious seeming.

This summer; we (me and my family), went to visit my Grandparents in upstate New York. They own a beautiful old summer house on Lake George, complete with guest house, ice house, boat house etc.

The beauty of the region always amazes me, and the clear lake reflects sunsets so beautifully that it seems evening is when the lake is at it's best.

I love the blue-greeness that seems to hang over the mountains across the lake is so imperfectly perfect.

The way the pines frame the mountains and lake...

...or become part of it.

The way the trees arch over sunset, mountain, and lake.

The pastel rainbow of a cloud the reaches to the lake and reflects in it.

The dove-gray clouds tipped with shining pearl white...

...throwing their shining light on the lake.

The softly coloured clouds that build up behind the hills...

...and throw a gentle light on them.

The way the dusk half-lights the lake....

...from behind the mountains.

The way water lilies are aboundant.

The winding gravel...

...and paved roads.

The fire behind the mountains, and clouds of molten gold.

The red-tipped gray clouds that seem so beautifully sombre.

The cheery shining gold clouds.

A bridge reflected in the lake.

Stone steps into the lake.

A heron by an old boat.

The swampy run-off from the lake.

Purple flowers...

...and fiery clouds...

...those are some of the thing I love about Lake George.

Firelit portraits, lanterns, gardens, and coreopsis

I was playing with taking portraits using only firelight. Here are the photos I came up with, let me know what you think! I also went to the Missouri Botanical Gardens recently, where they are having their annual Lantern Festival. Also, I decided to take a few photos of a coreopsis flower in our front entryway. Any feedback you want to give would be appreciated!
